My kids grew up on Psalty AND Steve Green’s ‘Hide ’em in your heart’…I would love to find cds of those if at all possible for my grandkids. Its incredible that I still remember all the words!Ĭhristina said this on Octoat 10:04 am | Reply I prefer all the music and dancing from these oldies. I love Veggie Tales…but I’m a music junkie. So…all of these memories are FLOODING back to me! I LOVES Psalty and the Donut Man…anybody remember him? Oh man how far we’ve come. WorshipCity said this on Septemat 8:20 pm | Reply I thought I had actually deleted those memories but they’re all flooding back to me now! NO NO NOOOOOOO! Wow, our church used to do “Music Day Camp” with Psalty and gang instead of “Vacation Bible School!” This is too much. Oh…my…GOD…I thought I’d never see that again! HA. It definitely was a good way to memorize scripture.Ĭheri said this on Septemat 10:07 am | Reply Today, my teenagers (and I) will still begin singing his version of a Bible verse EVERY time one is referenced. There were times I was so tired of listening that I wanted to throw it out the car window. However, the cassette tape my kids listened to over and over again was Steve Green – Hide ‘Em In Your Heart. Psalty was heading out when my kids were little and quickly replaced with Veggie Tales sing-a-long and Mary Rice Hopkins. TESTIFY!!!!Ģ6 Responses to “Psalty The Singing Songbook” it’s time for me to make some CD’s and get myself and my kids rockin’ a giant blue singing songbook. Then they look at me and tell me that they still have a bunch of the tapes at home and they still listen to them. So I tell them that I wish I had some of those tapes so I can introduce my kids to them and all the heavenly goodness that is Psalty the Singing SongBook. We started talking about how much we loved Psalty and all those old tapes and songs and all that good stuff. So classic, this guy and the music he brought of his bright red tapes helped define me and who I am today.Īnyway, So the other day I was talking to some people in the young adult group here at church and for some reason the topic of Psalty the singing songbook came up in our conversation (If you don’t still don’t know who Psalty is then you need to go over here to Wikipedia and read this article on him). One of their creations was a big blue singing songbook who had a dog, a family, and not to mention a worship workshop. I, probably like a nice big chunk of you, grew up in the golden era of the Christian musical days when Maranatha Music ruled. ![]() The New York Film Review caught an early screening of the first movie and called it "a real page-turner.PSALTY, COLBY, CHARITY CHURCH MOUSE!!! Those are the names I grew up with as a kid. Be Still And Know that Psalty Is Punching You in the Face. The creators have also announced over 30 sequels, including the following: "If I catch you playing Good, Good Father again, you'll be sorry." "Skills that allow me to take down a young worship-leading punk like you." The terrified worship leader tries to run, but his skinny jeans only allow him to waddle awkwardly away. ![]() "I have a very particular set of skills," Psalty (Kevin Sorbo) growls. The Rettinos started sketching out intense action sequences, like one scene where, out of nowhere, Psalty elbow-drops a modern worship pastor in a megachurch. We had just watched The Book of Eli, and it all kind of fell into place." "Debby and I started brainstorming what Psalty would do if he found out about all the neglected hymnals all across the country. "Psalty's back, and this time, he's out for blood," said Psalty co-creator Ernie Rettino.
